Following on from the completion of a 15,000m2 Superflat freezer warehouse for an American owned cold storage service supplier in October 2011, CoGri China closed out the year with another 5,000m2 Superflat project in Suzhou, Jiangsu province.
The client this time was an international air and liquid container manufacturer with its headquarters based in Korea, who are expanding their current facility with the construction of a new VNA warehouse.
After initial contact was made in September 2011, CoGri proposed 2 different solutions to the client, and over several rounds of discussions explained the technical proposals in great detail. Once the client was fully satisfied that they had chosen the right company to complete the superflat project, the contract was signed and CoGri mobilised to site in early November 2011.
With 14 “superflat” aisles in excess of 50m each, CoGri worked day and night to complete the works whilst never compromising on quality. The floor was constructed using CoGri’s Topping Slab Floor System (TP-FS) which allowed final floor construction to be completed in the final stages of the project after the main contractor had completed all overhead works from a structural base slab. This system of work minimised the risk of damage to the finished floor.
TP-FS allow warehouses or industrial facilities to acquire the require floor flatness at the later stage of construction when design and programme do not allow construction of the structural slab to tolerance. TP-FS can be constructed with several options depending on the clients requirement. This ranges from with full mechanical bond and unbonded where slab thickness starts from 75mm in thick onwards. These TP-FS are then finished to the required floor flatness for both Free Movement or VNA applications.
The 75mm thick floor was completed to a direct concrete finish with a full mechanical bond to the structural slab below. To ensure the slab had a good abrasion resistant finish, wet curing was utilised with liquid hardener application approximately 28 days later. Construction was completed on the 21st December, with the compliance testing survey completed by Face Consultants (Korea) Ltd the following day.
