A DIN Spec Floor Construction in Singapore

May 2, 2014

DIN ProfileographCoGri Asia Pacific recently completed works on a major project in the Tuas Biomedical Park for a multinational Swiss pharmaceutical company. CoGri was awarded this project by a growing local Singaporean contractor.

What makes this project so unique was that the client stipulated that ALL floors should be constructed to the same floor flatness specification and this building will be see-through, with all external and internal wall constructed in glass!

The facility comprises two main buildings; a 4 storey administration and laboratory building and an 8 storey production building. The total floor slab area was 26,000 m2. This included over 8,500 m2 of 375mm post-tensioned slabs, 10,000 m2 of 95mm bonded topping slabs and 6,000 m2 of 250mm slabs on grade, all constructed to meet with the European DIN 18202 Table 3, Line 4, tolerance. A small wire-guided VNA warehouse on the ground storey was cast to Category 1 (TR34, 2003 Edition Table 4.4).

Due to a slow start on the project and to help the main contractor meet a very tight programme, CoGri re-allocated their site manpower, resources and carried out the majority of casting at night. Upon completion of the works CoGri won praises from both the main contractor and the client, not only for the high quality floor construction but also for their hard-work, determination and professionalism.

The success of this project has led to potentially further works for this company on an upcoming warehouse expansion project for the same client, which is likely to start in early 2014.
